30 year of Perpetual Adoration

Our weekly "Perpetual Adoration" which is for 12 hours each Wednesday (7am to 7pm) started on 14th November 1989.

This November (2019) therefore sees the 30th anniversary of this Devotion, which is much loved and appreciated by members of this Parish and also by those from much further afield who travel to Stony Stratford to spend some time in the Presence of the Blessed Sacrament on Wednesdays.

To mark this significant anniversary, Fr Bernard will be closing Adoration with Benediction on Wednesday, 13th November (the eve of the actual date of the anniversary) and following this, refreshments will be served in the Parish Hall.

All our Adorers are warmly invited to come along for Benediction and afterwards to the hall to share their memories of this devotion over the years (do you remember when it used to go all through the night, as well as the day?), to remember fondly, those regular and faithful Adorers who are no longer with us and to look forward to this devotion continuing into the future … for another 30 years and more!

In order to secure the future of this devotion, it would be good to have some more people pledge a regular hour - please sign up on the noticeboard in the porch. Whilst people are always very welcome to pop in at any time of day to spend a few minutes in the Presence of the Blessed Sacrament, in order to continue this devotion, we need to be certain to have 2 people pledging regular attendance at each of the 12 hours of this devotion (this allows for one being away or unwell!). In this way, we can be certain that there is always someone in attendance in the Church. If you are recently retired, or find you have an hour you could regularly pledge (maybe an hour you currently regularly attend each week), please write your name on the noticeboard or contact the Parish Office, who will be happy to put you in touch with the Adorers.
