Easter Triduum

Here is the latest information currently available about services for the Easter Triduum.
This is subject to change, if broadcasters or Churches change their schedules, but we shall endeavour to keep this website as up-to-date as possible. In particular, please note that some of the services listed below as "live events" may have to change.

It is therefore anticipated that the following services will be live-streamed from Northampton Cathedral click here.

Chrism Mass:
8.30am: Live Chrism Mass from Rome here

11am at Northampton Cathedral here.

Mass of the Lord's Supper:
4.00pm: Live Solemn Mass of the Lord's Supper from Rome here

The Bishops’ Conference suggests that Cathedrals which have a centrally-placed tabernacle might live-stream this Mass and have proposed St Chad’s in Birmingham as the national focus for the Mass of Holy Thursday.
It is also proposed that “The Watching” might also be live-streamed.

St Chad’s live-stream is available here. Scroll down to find the live-stream screen - this is very small, but click the "full screen" symbol in the bottom right corner of the viewing screen to enlarge it (and press "esc" to exit full-screen).
If we become aware of Northampton Cathedral also live-streaming this, we will add the link

7.00pm: Live praying with Jesus in the Garden of Olives here
A holy hour with the Franciscan Custodians of the Holy Land. From the Basilica of the Agony at the Garden of Gethsemane in Jerusalem.

Ecumenical Walk of Witness:
The usual Ecumenical Walk of Witness around Wolverton will not now take place.

Novena to the Divine Mercy (Day 1):
This will not take place in Church, but it is suggested you pray this at home. The Catholic Television Channel EWTN broadcasts the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3pm every day here.

Solemn Liturgy of the Passion of the Lord:
It is hoped this will be live-streamed from Northampton Cathedral at 3pm
watch this space for further updates

4.00pm: Live celebration of the Lord's Passion from Rome here
Although this is 4pm here in the UK, it will of course be 3pm in Rome, from where this is being broadcast - the time difference between the UK and Rome therefore gives a slightly unusual time for this service!

Stations of the Cross
You can continue to pray these in your homes – using a booklet if you have one, or an online version (a search online will give you many links to different versions - or see the separate entry for "Stations of the Cross in Lent" in the "news and events" section of this website for clickable links to Stations of the Cross from Northampton Cathedral or EWTN)

Live Way of the Cross from the Colosseum in Rome:
8.15pm, led by Pope Francis here
Although currently still being advertised, it is not known whether this will be able to go ahead as planned - perhaps a recording from a previous year might be broadcast.

HOLY SATURDAY: 11th April:

Office of Readings and Morning Prayer of the Church:
Although we are not able to have our usual service at St Francis at 10.30am, you will find these prayers online here.

Novena to the Divine Mercy (Day 2):
See above as for Day 1

Blessing of the First Foods of Easter Day:
This cannot take place in the Church.
This blessing can be done by the Paterfamilias or head of the household. You will find a version here which includes directions for when this is led by a lay person.
